Our Christian Character
Daily Prayer and Reflection
Daily prayer is an important part of life at Torre. In addition to whole school and class collective worship, every classroom has a designated area for reflection. Classes have regular opportunity for focussed reflection time based on a theme.
Ethos Group
We have a hardworking team of staff, pupils, parents, governors and our vicar striving to ensure that the school vision ‘We live life in all it’s fullness’ is at the heart of everything we do at Torre. This committee meets regularly and works towards an action plan.
Spirituality
There is a spirituality trail around the school. Our trail helps us to look out on the world and gaze in wonder at the things we find amazing and also to help us understand the things that are not so good. It gives us opportunities to reflect and think about some of life’s big questions. It gives us opportunities to do something creative to help us to share our own thoughts and feelings.
Collective Worship
Collective Worship is based on Imaginor’s “Roots and Fruits” programme. There is a family Eucharist service each month where a focus class is invited to take part at All Saints Parish Church (alongside our Pupil Chaplains) and/or receive a blessing from the Priest.
We have strong links with our Parish Church All Saints, Torre and the Vicar (Father Peter) is in school regularly. We also have several trips to the Church every year. We were involved in starting up a Messy Church in partnership with the Church in 2018 and this is available to families during every school holiday period.
We also have excellent links with St. John’s Church, Shiphay and Central Church, Torquay. An Open The Book team visit fortnightly (when available) to engage the children in “hands on” collective worship. We have ‘Transforming Lives for Good’ coaches from local churches come into school weekly to support identified pupils on a 1:1 basis.
