Family Learning Support
We offer a variety of events and learning courses at Torre to support our families.
Every term, we welcome a Family Learning Tutor from South Devon College. This tutor then runs one of a variety of free courses for our families. Courses run for two hours, one afternoon or one morning for three, six or twelve weeks. The following Family Learning courses have proved popular with our families: “Story Boxes” Lifting the Lid on Storytelling, Keeping up with the Children: “Fun with Numbers”, Keeping up with the Children : Literacy and “Starting School.”
Up to twelve parents attend each course with a free crèche, at school, providing care for babies and preschool children. A favourite part of each Family Learning course session is when our children join their parents to work and play together.
Courses are advertised by posters around the school site, on the Community Notice board (next to the path into school) and on the school website. Course application forms, requesting a place for an adult on the course and a crèche place, are sent out in book bags. So do keep a look out and come and join us if you are able.

Parking and Road Safety
Poor and inconsiderate parking can place children at risk. Most accidents involving children outside schools occur when a child has their sight obscured by parked cars.
Parking restrictions and marked areas on the roads are there for a reason – to keep children safe.
The safest option when dropping off or picking your children up is to park away from the school and take a short walk to the gates.
If you MUST park near to school and space is limited, please follow the rules:
• Do not park on zig-zag lines or keep clear markings
• Do not park across dropped kerbs or drives
• Do not park on footpaths
• Do not stop to drop children off in the centre of the road
• Always abide by the restriction signs
• Please be courteous to our neighbours
• Please park safely and be considerate of children and residents by not causing an obstruction
